When to order heating oil

It is essential to ensure you always have the supply of Home Heating fuel you need. Unlike mains supply of gas and electricity the onus is on you to maintain the supply you need. If you prefer to maintain your supply you need to check the level of oil in your tank regularly and place your order well in advance of your desired delivery date. This is especially important at peak times such as during colder periods and around Christmas.

If you have a manual sight gauge on your domestic oil tank, make sure that the gauge is kept closed as much as possible and is only opened when you are actually reading the level of oil. This is because if the sight gauge is open at other times, oil could escape through it, debris could get in leading to contamination and it could also be more likely to be subject to theft.
